Your data works for you.
Nobody else.

Cadence reads your training and your body so it can coach you. That only works if you can trust where the data goes. Here is exactly what the app collects, what stays on your phone, what is sent to generate your coaching, and what we never do.

Last updated July 26, 2026

The short version

  • Your data lives on your iPhone. Cadence has no accounts and no server-side database of you.
  • Coaching requires an AI model. Summaries of your training context and your chat messages are sent to OpenAI, through our own relay, solely to generate your coach's replies.
  • No tracking. No ads, no third-party trackers, no selling or renting your data — ever.
  • Every integration is opt-in — Apple Health, WHOOP, your calendar — and you can disconnect any of them at any time.

What stays on your phone

Everything Cadence knows about you is stored locally on your device: your athlete profile, race goal, training plan, chat history, and the health and training data it reads with your permission. There is no Cadence account and no cloud copy of this data.

Connection credentials for optional integrations (WHOOP, Google Calendar) are stored in the iOS Keychain, Apple's encrypted credential store, and never leave your device.

What leaves your phone, and why

Cadence's coach is powered by an AI model. To generate a reply or adjust your plan, the app sends the relevant context — a summary of recent training, readiness signals, your plan, and the messages you write to the coach — to OpenAI's API.

These requests travel through Cadence's own relay server, which exists so that no API credentials ship inside the app. The relay is stateless: it forwards your request and stores nothing about you or its content.

Per OpenAI's API policy, data sent via the API is not used to train their models. We use your data for exactly one purpose: producing your coaching. It is never used for advertising, profiling, or anything else.

Health data commitments

Cadence reads health data — heart rate, heart-rate variability, sleep, and workouts — from Apple Health and, if you connect it, WHOOP. This access is granted by you, per data type, and can be revoked at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.

Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties except as described above to generate your coaching. This is our policy and also a requirement Apple enforces on every app that touches HealthKit.

Integrations you control

Apple Health — read-only access to the metrics you approve. Managed entirely by iOS permissions.

WHOOP— optional. Connects via WHOOP's own sign-in; Cadence reads recovery, sleep, and workout data. Disconnect inside Cadence or revoke access in your WHOOP account.

Calendars — optional. Cadence reads your schedule to plan sessions around your life and writes planned sessions to a calendar you choose. Access is controlled by iOS and revocable in Settings.

Payments

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Cadence never sees your payment details — we only receive Apple's confirmation that a subscription is active.

What we never do

No advertising, no ad SDKs. No third-party analytics trackers. No data brokers. No selling or renting your data. No accounts, so nothing to breach on our side. If any of this ever changes, this page will say so plainly before it does.

Deleting your data

Because your data lives on your device, deleting the app deletes it. To cut off integrations first: revoke Health access in the Health app, disconnect WHOOP and calendars inside Cadence, and revoke calendar access in iOS Settings.

Questions

This policy covers the Cadence iOS app and this website, which itself uses no cookies and no trackers. If anything here is unclear, or you want to know exactly what the app would send before you connect something, write to [email protected]. You'll get an answer from the person who builds the app.
